Mark 10:14-15

As we traverse the path we are assigned in this brief stay on the planet, we make choices about the direction our lives will take. We can be impressed with the achievements of Mankind in many fields as symbolized by the globe in the upper right corner. We can see mysterious accomplishments of men long gone, in the pyramids and in the Easter Island stone sculptures. We can look at one solitary life, of a baby born in an obscure village in Palestine over 2000 years ago, and come to a crossroads of decision. We can choose our intellectual arrogance, or we can become as little children, and follow Him on the scarlet road of redemption.

I did not realize until several years later that this painting was the first of what would be a series which I have come to think of as "The Cross Series" It became a spiritual pilgrimmage for me, and like most pilgrimmages, the journey was at times smooth and pleasant, and at others, a rocky, uncharted terrain I had to stumble across to find my way.
